For Parents

We warmly welcome the assistance of parents, carers and other friends. We believe that it is by working in partnership with each other that our students are able to receive the best possible education.

Parents and Carers are able to assist in the classroom and we especially welcome support in our Literacy block which occurs during the first 2 hours of everyday. Parents are also encouraged to attend all classroom activities such as assemblies, excursions and swimming lessons. Our infants’ teachers also gladly receive support for their art activities and for the Gross Motor program.

There are many opportunities for parents to be involved in the wider school community, we have many parents who work in the canteen, the second hand clothing pool, school banking and the coaching of sporting teams.

For parents who find it hard to get to school during work hours, we offer opportunities to assist though our school’s working bees, community events such as the fete and morning breakfasts. We have parents in our school who donate time to the library by covering books at home.

There are many ways for parents and carers to be involved in their child’s education and it is a great way to meet new people and make lasting friendships with other parents from our school community.

All volunteers must comply with the WWVP Act. It requires those who work or volunteer with children in our school to have a background check and be registered with the Office of Regulatory Services.

School Community Council

The St Francis of Assisi Community Council is the peak representative body for parents, grandparents and carers within the school community. To ensure a sense of belonging and family is maintained amongst our community, the Council holds regular events including Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Breakfasts, Grandparents Day, School Discos and community “get to know you” evenings.

The Council also supports the major school Ninja Warrior Colour Run and Community Fete events, both eagerly anticipated by all St Francis of Assisi Primary School students. These events form the basis of the Council’s support for maintaining and upgrading the excellent facilities of the school, including our outstanding Kindergarten rooms and playground, smartboards and programmable robots which underpin our STEM programme, our environmental garden and teaching facilities and extensive landscaped playground facilities which will include sensory and stimulative areas specifically designed for our students with disability needs.

St Francis is an open and welcoming school for all founded on the Franciscan values of care for each other and care for the environment, which the Community Council are proud to serve and represent.
