Next week we will be celebrating and recognising the rich tapestry of cultures within our school community through a variety of activities for Harmony Week.
On Monday all students from ELC- Year 6 will be participating in an incursion led by Sean Choolburra. Sean was born and raised in Townsville and his ancestors are Gu-Gu-Yalanji, Kalkadoon, Kandju and Bwgcolman from around Townsville and Palm Island. Charismatic, vibrant and captivating, Sean fuses his engaging energy and humour with historical facts, spiritual wisdom, depth of ancestral understanding and knowledge; he is one very exciting and talented cultural ambassador. You can check out Sean on YouTube: https://youtu.be/pA04xG6ZHJg
On Wednesday we will celebrate Polding's win at the swimming carnival by all coming dressed in as little or as much blue your child feels comfortable in.
On Friday the children are asked to come in their normal school uniforms with a 'splash of orange' to recognise official Harmony Day. (This splash can be as simple as a pair of socks, a ribbon or scrunchie for example). If your child has a traditional cultural dress/costume that they wish to wear they are more than welcome but apart from these traditional items of clothing it is NOT an out of uniform day. At 2pm on Friday Year 2 will culminate our celebrations with an Assembly in the school hall that all our community is welcome to attend.
As mentioned in an earlier email, if you would like to come in during the week to read or tell a traditional story from your culture we would be very grateful. Please just email sharee.thomas@cg.catholic.edu.au your availability or send in a recording of yourself reading/telling the story so it can be shared with the children.
Reminder that Scholastic Book Club orders close THIS Sunday 16th March.

It has been really nice welcoming parents and children into the library on a Monday afternoon. Remember that you are welcome to bring your children to read a book, browse our collection and borrow extra books for home reading! The library is open from 3pm - 4pm.
